It was us or them

picture-1.jpgEmily and I started hearing noises and seeing mouse droppings in our house a couple of weeks ago.  So I went to the store and picked up a few of these neat humane traps – the “Mice Cube”.  There a little one-way trapdoor that keeps the mouse from escaping once it ventures inside to eat a delicious peanut butter cracker.  Well, after a week of no success and having the mouse saunter out into the middle of the kitchen floor to see what I was watching on TV twice, we decided more drastic measures were necessary.

victor_rat_trap_big.gifOn my second visit to the store I picked up some of these good old mouse-killin’ traps.  20 minutes after setting them up we heard a snap, 20 minutes after that another snap.  After a week of trying with the ethical traps the classic trap solved our mouse problem in 40 MINUTES.  I haven’t seen or heard a mouse since.

Now to be fair the killer traps were placed in a new spot we hadn’t tried with the other traps, a spot that must have had more mouse-traffic than where we had tried before.  Perhaps though, there’s something to be said for a design that hasn’t changed much in over 100 years.
