I’m in Ottawa

I’m back in Ottawa now, it’s cold and snowy here but I actually enjoy the change.  In Louisiana you don’t feel time passing as well because there aren’t huge differences between the seasons.  Don’t get me wrong though, after a few weeks of this I’ll be all set to head back to the warm south (and Emily of course!).

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Merry Christmas from Emily and I down here in Louisiana!

December 19th: Canoe Trip!

IMG_5800.JPGEmily and I went on a lovely canoe trip in the Atchafalaya Basin a couple of days ago. The weather cooperated and it was incredibly beautiful and serene. I still can’t quite figure out why I’m going back up to Canada for the holidays…  Check out my Flickr page for more photos from the trip.

Required Watching for Anyone Who Uses Products

b000r2gdos01mzzzzzzz.jpgI just finished watching Canadian artist Edward Burtynsky’s documentary Manufactured Landscapes. It depicts the massive scale of industry and resource extraction in places like China. Scary and beautiful.

BibMe: A Tool I Wish I’d Known About 5 Years Ago

bibmelogo.jpgThis would have been handy in school – BibMe lets you type in a bunch of ISBNs and automatically formats a bibliography in any one of several popular styles.  This type of citation management tool has existed for a while but this one is easy and free.  I hate to think of the number of hours this would have saved me if I’d known about it in school.
